When Bhavna lost her father, it felt like the ground had been pulled from under her feet. He had always been the one holding the family together, and suddenly everything seemed uncertain. Her mother cried for hours, and her younger brother kept asking questions she didn’t have the answers to. Bhavna herself wanted to scream, to cry, to break down, but she knew someone had to stay strong. At just seventeen, she realized that she had to step into a role she never imagined. That night, sitting in the small living room with silence all around, she promised herself that no matter how difficult it got, she would not let her family fall apart.
Life after that was not easy. Every morning, Bhavna forced herself to get up, prepare food, and send her brother to school, even when she wanted to stay in bed and hide from the world. She went to her classes and worked part-time in the evenings to help cover expenses. Sometimes her friends talked about small problems that felt so different from hers, and it made her feel older than her age. But she kept going, step by step, reminding herself that her father would have wanted her to be strong. Slowly, her mother began to recover, and her brother started to laugh again. These small changes gave Bhavna the courage to keep moving forward, even on the hardest days.
