From the moment Liam saw the small, scared puppy by the side of the road, something inside him changed. The puppy looked at him with big, hopeful eyes, and Liam felt like they understood each other—two lonely hearts meeting at the right time. Liam named him Max. Day by day, their friendship grew stronger. Max followed Liam everywhere, like a shadow. He became Liam’s best friend, always there when things felt tough. When Liam’s dad left and his mom seemed tired and sad, Max stayed. He didn’t need words—just a soft nudge, a wagging tail, and quiet love. Liam and Max would walk in the woods, lie under the stars, and sit in silence when things were too heavy to say out loud. Max became Liam’s safe place, and Liam became Max’s.
As time passed, things began to change. Max wasn’t as fast or playful as before. His legs shook sometimes, and his eyes looked tired. Liam worried, and one day, the vet told him Max was very sick. Liam’s heart broke. He didn’t want to say goodbye, not yet. So, he made every day special—giving Max his favorite treats, telling him stories, and hugging him tight each night. They spent more time together than ever, quietly enjoying every moment. Liam learned that love wasn’t just about fun or play—it was about being there, even when it hurt. And though it was hard, Liam stayed strong for Max, showing him the same love Max had always given.
